July's Life
July's World is the World through my eyes!
Hi everyone! My name is July Miranda and I am excited to be taking this course with all of you. A bit of my personal life is that I have been married for 21 years, I have a 19 year old son Ricky and a 14 year old daughter Dezeray. I also have 3 dogs, Jacob 9 years old, Bailey 9 years old and Riley our 2 years old service dog.
I love traveling! by car by plane by boat as long as long as its somewhere new I love going places. I have been to the most popular cities in the US and Canada. I traveled to Europe by myself the summer of 2019 for three weeks which I consider a great accomplishment because not many people are willing to explore on their own a new place let alone countries abroad. One of my favorite vacations was to Niagara Falls NY and when we went to Yellowstone because on both of those vacations we went camping and there were no distractions, it was just us and nature. Even though I love seeing new places but, I visit Los Angeles every year even though I do not have family there. Every time I visit California I discover new places and new towns. I had always dreamed of moving to California but after I visited Portland I felt in love with Portland and would move there if given the chance <3
Work/School life! I obtained my undergrad in Law and Business but found love of education while subbing so I decided to go for my Masters Degree in Education. I obtained my Masters in Special Education and have gotten my Bilingual Endorsement and after this semester will get my Technology Specialist Endorsement as well. I have been in education for 12 years now in a variety of positions and grades. I have taught Bilingual Courses and Special Education in grades PreK through 12th grade. I worked in Cicero school district for 8 years and have been in CPS for 4 years. I am planing to start working on my Principal endorsement in January as well at National Louis University. I love working with all my students but I prefer to work with high school students the most.
In CPS I work as a Temporary Assigned Special Education Teacher which means I take over medical leaves and therefore work in many grades and schools throughout the district. I love working these temp assignments and have been offered permanent positions at every school I work in but I like the constant change the ability to teach various grades and subjects throughout the school year. This type of of job environment keeps me from burning out since I'm constantly learning and adapting to new environments.
Hi July,
ReplyDeleteYou look way to young to be married for 21 years! Congratulations! I also have a dog named Riley!
You have so much Special Education experience. I have been teaching SpEd for going on 6 years. I love the fact you are a TAT. I can imagine that flexibility is refreshing.
I hope that you and your family are doing well during quarantine. Hopefully next week with the kids will run smooth!
Hi July. Thanks for sharing your story with us. It was great to see you mention your experience with CPS. I spent 25 years in the district. Like you, we also loved Yellowstone! Looking forward to learning with you this fall.
ReplyDeleteHi July!!
ReplyDeleteI loved looking through all your travel photos and your family! I too, love to travel all over the world! I spent a summer in Europe a few years back and it was an amazing experience! I'm hoping to get to some of the national parks in the next few years, especially Yellowstone!
I love your point of view on taking long term substitute leaves! You must adapt well to new situations! Another plus of changing all the time is getting to work with many different teachers and learn about how schools run differently! You are going to get a very unique perspective of e-teaching from working in many different buildings!! Good luck this school year! :)
